Dartmouth past, present and future.

The youngsters of Dartmouth were at the town council for a council meeting with a difference.

Dartmouth Community Chest organised a trip for the town’s young people to experience how the council works, followed by a tour of the history of the town.

After a look around and talk about the history of the Guildhall, the children ran their own council meeting. A Mayor and Deputy Mayor were voted in and ideas and questions about what they would like in the town were discussed.

After a quick snack at the community cafe, they were off to Dartmouth Museum for a tour and talk by the lovely volunteers, about the history of our beautiful town. Then Town Crier, Les Ellis, led a tour of the landmarks around town and he shared so much great knowledge of our history.

Many thanks to Cllr Andrea Cates, Cllr Graham Webb, Ron and Richard and Cllr Mike Rowley for their time and knowledge, and all the great volunteers at the museum – everyone should go and see this fantastic place.

A brilliant end to our summer activities, the town is in good hands, with such enthusiasm and dedication from so many locals.
